The Moseley family had much to celebrate this Christmas thanks to a local nonprofit, The Butterfly Foundation coming Together for Colorado. Eleven-year-old Mateo’s is excited about his special delivery, a new bed and new beds for his other 4 siblings. He had been sleeping on the floor after flooding in their apartment forced them out into a hotel for 6 weeks. But thankfully the Butterfly Foundation stepped in to help this family of seven.
Founded in 2009, the Butterfly Foundation has been helping struggling families brought down by tragedy or hardship rebuild their lives. They paid the Moseley’s deposit for a new apartment, beds for the children, furniture, bedding, and took them to Wal Mart to purchase toiletries and other essential items their family needed after flooding destroyed most of their items.
Una Marie Mosley, the Mother, has overwhelming joy and gratitude as their family now has a home and a fresh start. Their children all have the essentials to help them get a good night’s sleep so they can go to school rested. In addition, both parents too now can go to work knowing that the children have beds to sleep in and once again a place to call home.
Thanks go out to Channel 4’s Jamie Leary and Kelly Werthmann, who brought this family to the attention of our foundation. Also thank you to Tom Valdez, Valdez Photography for the pictures and video footage for this story! Check out the the story on CBS Denver
