At just two years old, Emmy was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma and required a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Emmy and her mom relocated to Aurora for treatment while her dad and 4-year-old brother remained at their family home a few hours away. While Emmy was enduring the transplant and treatment her parents were unable to work full time and living apart was stressful but necessary to get Emmy the care she needed.
Through our Wings of Hope program, The Butterfly Foundation helped cover their mortgage and utility bills, giving this incredible family the freedom to direct all their energy where it belonged—on Emmy's healing journey. The Butterfly Foundation was honored to support this remarkable family during their time of need, allowing them to focus on what's truly important - Emmy's recovery.
Stories like Emmy's remind us of the profound difference compassion and community support can make in the toughest of times. Emmy's family was referred to us by Children's Hospital, reinforcing our vital partnership in supporting families facing childhood medical crises.
