Meet Kellie, a resilient single hardworking mom from Denver. Kellie was going about her regular day when her car was struck by another driver. She endured multiple surgeries her legs and ankle. Due to the serious nature of her ankle injuries she suffered arterial and nerve damage and avascular necrosis - a condition where bones aren't getting ample blood flow and begin to die causing a series of further pain and can lead to loss of use.
Kellie had regular bills piling up compounded with the stress of more medical bills from surgeries, procedures and physical therapies. She was on the brink of eviction. The Butterfly Foundation came to her aid and paid for a few months of her rent to catch her up and we worked with Hands of the Carpenter to get her back on the road so she could return to work and provide stability for her kids.
Her story is a powerful reminder of how critical community support can make a big impact and how things can change so quickly. A little support for those in need can go a long way for families like Kellie who just need a little boost to get back on their feet.
